Dog Point has long held the title for producing the best Sauvignon Blanc in the Southern Hemisphere, but they have outdone themselves in the wonderful 2024 vintage.
Rated 95 points by Robert Parker's Wine Advocate, that was the highest score they gave ANY Sauvignon Blanc from ANYWHERE in the world, and they reviewed 160 different ones! I had a glass of this last night, and I agree with their assessment, and I think this is the best wine this prestigious, Marlborough winery has ever made.....
You're going to like the price on this 95-pointer that "offers great pleasure and satisfying drinking," and I bought my distributor's remaining inventory:
Buy a Solid Six-Pack: Just $19.99/bottle and over 25% off!
Anything Less: $22.99/bottle ($27.99 regular price).
How many 95-point wines cost you less than $25? Trust me, very few of them do!
Dog Point was founded in 2004 by two of New Zealand's great "wine minds." Enologist and winemaker James Healy and viticulturist Ivan Sutherland met at Cloudy Bay, where they helped propel that estate and New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc to new heights. Ivan and his wife Margaret planted their Dog Point Vineyard in the mid-1970's, and it was fruit from their vineyard that went into those early Cloudy Bay Sauvignon Blancs.

Today, the estate is still family-run, and Dog Point is New Zealand's largest certified vineyard, and it is also home to some of the country's oldest Sauvignon Blanc vines. These old vines, clean farming, and years of experience combine to create one of New Zealand's classiest and most distinctive Sauvignon Blancs.

I've got to be honest -- a lot of New Zealand Sauvignon Blancs taste the same and don't really float my boat, but that is not the case with Dog Point's Sauvignon Blanc. This stuff vibrates on a different and totally unique frequency, showing intense and heady aromas of flint, intense green herbs, sliced lemon, lime zest, white peach, and gravelly mineral.
It's just as good on the palate with a restraint and complexity I rarely find in Marlborough Sauvignon Blancs. It's high-toned and packed with flavor for sure, but it's also balanced and seamless, and the finish just doesn't stop. This, my friends, is WORLD CLASS STUFF!
Robert Parker's Wine Advocate had nothing but nice things to say too. "The 2024 Sauvignon Blanc leads with a distinct nose of freshly picked curry leaf, crushed sea shells, lemon zest, asphalt, mustard seed, dried coriander/coriander seed and white flesh orchard fruit. This is powerfully fruited, has great energy and drive and, unsurprisingly, offers great pleasure and satisfying drinking. This is a very smart, savory wine here."
This will age, integrate, and improve too -- the Wine Advocate says drink now through 2035, and I agree with them.
Just $19.99/bottle if you buy a solid six-pack or $22.99/bottle for anything less. The regular price on this is $27.99.
