La Colline aux Fossiles Chardonnay 2021

2024 Colline aux Fossiles Chardonnay

The Colline Aux Fossiles Chardonnay is a wine that pleases almost every palate, and over the past 5 years, it has been our #1 selling wine, period.

I totally get why so many customers love it. It honestly drinks like a White Burgundy and a Sonoma Coast Chardonnay had a baby, and I firmly believe it is the greatest Chardonnay value on the planet.

It's been about a year since we put this one on sale, but that's about to change. We just got 14 cases, and I'm running a great deal on this through October 18th!

Buy a solid six-pack, and I'll take 25% off, bringing it down to $14.99/bottle!

Anything less, and it's just $15.99/bottle and 20% off the regular price of $19.99.

Colline aux Fossiles is a joint venture between vigneron Jean-Marc Lafage and highly-regarded importer Eric Solomon. A few years back, the duo stumbled upon an old-vine, perfectly situated Chardonnay vineyard (see below) along the Tet River, in the Roussillon region of France. Take a look, those are some OLD vines!

This is the "stuff" that wine lovers and wine buyers (like myself) are constantly on the hunt for. There's a ton to like about this Chardonnay that offers up so much style, quality, and nuance at such a reasonable price. It has such a terrific balance of fruit, mineral, and spice, and whether you love crisp Chablis, golden-fruited Macon, or nicely balanced California Chardonnay, you will love this wine.

Now in its sixth vintage, Colline aux Fossiles Chardonnay seems to get a little better each vintage. From 30-40-year-old vines planted in gravelly, limestone-rich soils, much like you'd find in the high-rent districts of Burgundy, this is fermented and aged in a mix of stainless steel and French oak, and the finished wine is ripe and rich, but there is still plenty of juicy acidity to keep it fresh and light on its feet.

Boasting an almost golden color upon pouring, the bouquet is gorgeous with notes of white peach, caramelized citrus, spiced apple, honeysuckle, and crushed rock. Equally attractive on the palate, this is deeply flavored without being heavy or cloying. I don't know more you could ask for out of Chardonnay at this price point.

$14.99/bottle and 25% off if you buy a solid six-pack or $15.99/bottle and 20% off the regular price ($19.99) if you want take it for a test drive before you stock up : )

We honestly stock Chardonnays from all over that cost 2-3x the price and don't offer nearly as many virtues as this one.
