We featured Schaller's sensational Chablis recently, and it was a hit with our customers. Their Bourgogne Rouge is equally impressive, and I could make a strong case that is the best Red Burgundy value in the marketplace.
I can't believe that I can offer you such a pretty, silky, and complete Red Burgundy for just $21.99 and over 20% off the regular price of $27.99, but I can : )
This is definitely an estate on the rise, as son and father Camille and Laurent are making wines that are deservedly beginning to receive a lots of positive praise. Their Bourgogne Rouge comes from certified organic vineyards just south of Chablis, and this is a part of Burgundy where we've seen a dramatic improvement in the quality of the reds due to the warming effect of climate change.

As you might know, Chablis is the northernmost part of Burgundy, and outside of Alsace and Champagne, its vineyards are the most northern of any in France. Historically, these cooler climate vineyards were ideal for producing crisp and steely whites, but the Pinot Noirs made here were often thin, underripe, and just not that great. As temperatures have risen, all of that has changed, and the Pinot Noirs from these northern sites have gotten riper and finer-textured, but they still maintain a freshness and brightness that keeps you coming back for sip after sip.
That is exactly what's on display in the Schaller's Bourgogne Rouge -- a classically-styled Red Burgundy with gorgeous notes of earthy cherry, brambly raspberry, woodsy spice, violet, and mineral. As good as it smells, it is the mouthfeel and overall composure on the palate that impresses me most. Perfectly ripe Pinot fruit is balanced by energetic acidity and silky tannins, and the experience is downright enchanting.
If you know me, you know that Red Burgundy is my "thing," and I will be drinking many bottles of this in the coming months. Hopefully, I manage to save a bottle or 2 for this year's Thanksgiving feast. We shall see.
For $21.99/bottle, you will not find a better Red Burgundy, I guarantee it.
Even at its regular price of $27.99, I think you'd struggle to find one that does as much as this one does.....
