Robert Biale is one of our country's leading producers of Red Zinfandel. I checked out their website, and they currently have 18 different Zinfandel bottlings available, but in the 2022 vintage, their R.W. Moore Vineyard Zin took home top honors.
Rated 97 points by Wine Enthusiast and 94 points by Wine Spectator, it comes from a 120-year-old vineyard in Coombsville, just east of the city of Napa. This old heritage site yields a Zinfandel of immense pleasure and interest, and just 692 cases were made.
Simply put, it's a special wine from a special site, and we just took shipment of our distributor's last 48 bottles. We think you'll find our price to be quite competitive on a national level.....keep reading, it's a good wine story : )

2022 Robert Biale 'R.W. Moore Vineyard' Zinfandel
Deal Price: $55.99/bottle best price -- no further discounts
One of the top-rated Red Zins of the vintage at a great price!
If you know anything about the Coombsville AVA of the Napa Valley, you know this is Cab territory. The R.W. Moore Vineyard is unique, as it's both the oldest vineyard in the appellation, and it doesn't contain one vine of Cabernet Sauvignon. Planted in 1905 to Zinfandel, those vines continue to produce tiny amounts of highly flavorful and aromatic grapes.
R.W. Moore is unique in another way too. It's considered so important that its genetic heritage is being preserved and propagated through the UC-Davis Heritage Vineyard project. In other words, the genetic material from these historic vines is being saved for future generations of winemakers. In the meantime, we get to enjoy the immense pleasures that this Zinfandel brings.
Great story, but it's an even better wine. I love the layered style to this elegant and fine-grained Zinfandel. I picked up big aromas of dark berries, dried figs, sage, cigar box, and exotic spice on the nose, and the flavors are expansive and supple on the palate. It's a very balanced and regal Red Zin that will please the pickiest of palates.
Don't trust me, Wine Enthusiast rated it 97 points and called it a "Cellar Selection," saying "this Zinfandel is simultaneously friendly and impressively serious. The tannins are lightly grippy with the potential to age, while the palate is mouthwatering and lengthy."
Wine Spectator loved it too, rating it 94 points, and saying this "polished red retains a classic sense of Zinfandel briar, with multilayered flavors of black cherry, roasted anise and pepper that race toward vibrant tannins. Drink now through 2032."
If you aren't sold by now, you must have too much wine ; ) Seriously folks, this is a world-class red, and our pricing is really good. Just 48 bottles up for grabs. Get on it!
