2022 Failla Pinot Noir Willamette Valley

2022 Failla Pinot Noir Willamette Valley

Ehren Jordan doesn't just make world-class Pinots from California's Sonoma Coast, he also makes an outstanding Willamette Pinot that I consider to be one of the Valley's top values.

His 2022 Failla Willamette Valley Pinot Noir was a huge hit last Thanksgiving, and you all keep buying and loving it in 2026. I get it, this offers a level of complexity that I rarely encounter in domestic Pinots for less than $30.

That's right, this one is on sale for $27.99/bottle and 20% off the regular price, and I just bought my distributor's remaining inventory.

Ehren Jordan of Failla Wines

Ehren Jordan is a true vigneron, and that is a term for someone who is involved in every aspect of a wine's "upbringing," from tending to the vines to overseeing the making of the wine. After many years as Turley's lead winemaker, he left that position to start Failla in 1998. At Failla, the focus is on highly expressive, cool climate, naturally fermented Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, and I love the work Ehren's doing.

His Willamette Valley Pinot Noir is clicking on all cylinders. Coming from 4 prized organic sites, including a good deal of fruit from the famed Seven Springs Vineyard, it has 25% whole clusters, it's fermented with native yeasts, and it sees 9 months in barrel aging before it's bottled with minimal fining and filtration.

One sniff and sip of this one, and you can immediately detect that this was made by someone who cared and oversaw production from vine to bottle. Medium bodied and presenting a captivating nose and palate of Bing cherry, wild blueberry, damp earth, woodsy spice, dried rose petals, and orange zest, you won't find a better Oregon Pinot for the money.

The additional time in bottle has left this in great drinking condition, and I'd personally rate it 94 points.

$27.99/bottle is the best price, and it's one of the best prices you'll find this in the US.
