2020 Clos Cibonne Tentations Rose

2020 Clos Cibonne Tentations Rose

For seasoned dry rose lovers, Clos Cibonne ranks high on the list of top producers. This old, highly esteemed estate has been continuously run by the Roux family since 1793, and dry rose has always been their “main game.”

This is no fly-by-night, trendy operation making vast quantities of wine to sell to big box stores. Far from it, they take dry rose very seriously, and when you try the 2020 Clos Cibonne Tentations Rose, you’ll immediately understand what I’m talking about.

Look at that bottle. Doesn’t it just make you think of leisurely, sunny spring afternoons? Believe me, a nicely chilled bottle of this is going to make those days just a little bit better. The 2020 Tentations Rose is the best vintage of this wine we’ve ever stocked, and here’s a wine that is going to bring a smile to a lot of faces.

What makes Cibonne’s wines so distinctive is their love of the rare and native Tibouren grape. An ancient varietal, Tibouren contributes intense floral, berry, and earth aromas and flavors, and when added to the blend for dry rose, it gives the wines an extra layer of flavor and depth. I’m not saying this is heavy or creamy or funky in any way, shape, or form, it’s just a little fuller and more complex than your typical sub-$20 Provencal rose.

A blend of Grenache, Cinsault, Tibouren, and Syrah from organically farmed vineyards, this comes from the 2020 harvest in Provence, a vintage that producers were very happy with. A beautiful, light pink color is followed by a wine bursting with aromas of orange peel, delicate redcurrant, and wild strawberries. The palate follows in fine form with great, almost orange wine concentration, paired with vivacious freshness and mouthwatering acidity.

I can’t wait for you to taste this one. With European wine shipments behind schedule….that means dry rose for sure….this is going to be gone in no time. Order fast or forever hold your peace, and most importantly, ENJOY!
