The 2019 Villa Creek Cherry House White blew me away when I tasted it recently. I kid you not when I say it reminds me of an upper tier White Chateauneuf Blanc.
And at less than $30, this is a ton of white wine for the money!

Cris Cherry’s Cherry House White is a new cuvée from Villa Creek, one of the top tier Paso Robles producers. Inspired by the rich and exotic whites of the Southern Rhone, this one is a blend of equal parts Clairette and Grenache Blanc. Most of the fruit comes from Villa Creek’s MAHA estate, in Western Paso Robles, but some of the fruit is sourced from their friends and neighbors.
The Clairette is fermented and aged in French oak (10% new) with full malolactic fermentation while the Grenache Blanc is fermented and aged in neutral barriques with partial malolactic fermentation. The finished wine is one I will be drinking often. I love whites like this where there’s a perfect balance of richness and freshness.
Like the Cherry House Red, which we’re also featuring currently, the Cherry House White was meant to be the estate’s entry-level white. But trust me, there is nothing entry level about this at all. Vinous Media’s notes are very similar to mine. “Spice-tinged citrus and orchard fruit scents are complicated by succulent herb and chamomile nuances that gain strength with air. Sappy, concentrated and focused on the palate, offering Meyer lemon, dried pear and honeysuckle flavors and a touch of fennel. Closes with firm grip and very good persistence, leaving repeating floral and pear notes behind.”
When you taste this one, you’ll understand why I’m so excited about it. I can’t wait to pop a bottle with a seafood green curry. It will be a perfect pair. I suggest you do the same. Cheers and keep drinking the good stuff!
