Strong Arms Bordeaux Blanc 2018

2018 Strong Arms Bordeaux Blanc

SOLD OUT! The 2018 Strong Arms Bordeaux Blanc is one of the top White Bordeaux values I’ve encountered this year. Drinking more like a top-flight White Graves, this delights the palate with full, ripe, and fleshy flavors.

When White Bordeaux is done right, it can be one of the most satisfying white wines on the planet. Trust me, this one is done right! For white wine lovers with adventurous palates, do yourself a favor and try this.

SOLD OUT

I’ve got some good news and some bad news on this one. The bad news is that there is literally zero technical information online for this wine. The good news is that I’ve tasted the wine, and it is absolutely delicious. Long story short — you’re going to have to trust your friendly wine monger on this one.

I can tell you for sure that Strong Arms Bordeaux Blanc is the brain child of importer Dan Phillips. Dan’s company The Grateful Palate is the same one that brings us the Southern Belle wines. Don’t worry, this one isn’t aged in Pappy Van Winkle barrels! That wouldn’t work too well for a white wine. It is, however, a blend of 75% Sauvignon Blanc and 25% Semillon, all sourced from the Canon-Fronsac zone on the Right Bank of Bordeaux. I would also guess that this one was fermented and aged in French oak.

Drinking like an old-school, barrel fermented White Graves, this is a fabulous bottle of white wine. Golden in color and highly aromatic, this one exudes notes of white peach, caramelized grapefruit, lime zest, and assorted baking spices. The palate is rich and vibrant with great concentration and length. Despite its modern label, this wine is classic in every way.

If you’ve never experienced the joys of White Bordeaux, this is your chance to do so. It’s a bit exotic and different, but it’s nonetheless delicious. Enjoy this wonderful white this holiday season with salmon, scallops, crab, or lobster. Your taste buds will be very happy! Cheers to happy drinking and eating in Asheville this holiday season.
