Unfortunately, White Rhones rarely garner the same respect as their red wine counterparts. This is a shame, because when White Rhones are done right, there is a lot to like. And I promise you there’s a ton to like in this one. The three grape blend really works well here. Marsanne adds weight, body, and texture and amps up the green apple fruit. Grenache Blanc adds bright acidity and contributes exotic tropical fruit notes. And last but not least, the Viognier adds peach and honeysuckle notes.
Sounds good doesn’t it? Trust me, it is! Chapoutier sources all of the grapes from some of his most trusted Northern Rhone growers. Even better, all of the vineyards are farmed sustainably and/or organically. Fermented in a combination of stainless steel and cement tanks, the finished wine is clean, bright, pure, and fresh. If you’ve enjoyed our other White Rhone features (Cristia and Piaugier come to mind), you’ll love this one too.
Ideal as an aperitif, with its full and rounded texture and flavors, this would also work incredibly well with roast chicken, all sorts of fish and seafood, and spicy Asian fare. Stock up and save big! Cheers and keep drinking the good stuff in the AVL!
