SOLD OUT! The 2017 La Noble Chardonnay is one of the great, un-oaked Chardonnay values in the world.
For over 20 years, importer Dan Kravitz of Hand Picked Selections has been crafting this wine. And for over 20 years, it has delighted palates near and far. From the sun drenched vineyards of Southern France, it is fresh, bright, crisp and invigorating. Jeb Dunnuck described it as “terrific as well as a smoking value.” I’m not one to argue with that assessment.

Jeb Dunnuck calls this “a medium-bodied, clean, deliciously balanced, pure Chardonnay that over-delivers” with notes of “stone fruits, buttered citrus, white flowers and a hint of salty minerality.” Sure, that will do. But I’ll add a few of my own notes. There’s body, weight, and complexity here — despite being clean and fresh, this is substantial white wine. Far from being mundane and/or one-dimensional, there’s complex mineral and spice notes underneath the forward fruit. Calling to mind wines like Novellum and Milou, this might be even better than those two.
My oh my, Dan Kravitz knows how to find value. He’s the same importer behind the wines of Cabirau, Pegau, and Penya, and these are all wines/brands that you have grown to love. La Noble is a new arrival to Table Wine, and it’s Dan’s personal project.
The grapes come from the clay, limestone, and gravel soils of Limoux and Puilacher in warm and sunny Southern France. After harvesting the grapes at night, fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks and malolactic is blocked. After that, it’s aged “sur lie” a bit before bottling. The resulting wine is clean, bright, and palate-pleasing.
