SOLD OUT! The 2014 Domaine Brunet is a super high quality French Pinot Noir for less than $15!!!
If you shop at the store regularly, you know I am a Pinot Noir “enthusiast.” I love the delicate and pretty flavors, the silky and smooth texture, and the subtle earthy underpinning of the grape, but I hardly ever find those nuances in versions under $15. I’ve found it, and I’m confident in saying that the 2014 Domaine Brunier Pinot Noir is the best Pinot Noir value in the store.
2014 Domaine Brunet Pinot Noir
Outstanding Pinot Noir value with silky texture and pure and complex flavors!
SOLD OUT
Domaine Brunet is located in France’s Limoux region, in the southern part of the country. Unlike many of the warmer, Mediterranean influenced wine zones of France’s Languedoc, Limoux enjoys a cooler, more Atlantic influenced climate that is perfectly suited to the cultivation of Pinot Noir. In fact, most experts and insiders agree that this zone is the best spot in France to grow the grape outside of Burgundy.
I think the experts are right as this wine completely reminds me of a good, entry level, regional Bourgogne, but it sells for a fraction of the price. It pours a lovely, translucent ruby color and the bouquet is classic French Pinot Noir — high toned red fruits and spicy/earthy complexity.
On the palate, the wine is light to medium bodied, supple, and loaded with ripe cherry, raspberry, strawberry, vanilla, clove and allspice. All in all, the Domaine Brunet Pinot Noir delivers a ton of pleasure for a ridiculously low price! My instincts tell me that it will easily hold up for at least 2 or 3 years — if you like Pinot, get a case!
