SOLD OUT! Looking for a Napa Valley Red Blend that will make your head spin? This wine is straight up sexy — if the major wine writers can use that lingo, so can I!
The 2012 Hill Family Barrel Blend is one of those wines that combines super rich, full and flamboyant flavors with a creamy and velvety texture. Perfect for sipping without food, it’s also a prime candidate for filet mignon or pretty much any sort of meat off the grill.
2012 Hill Family Barrel Blend
Rich and full-bodied yet plush and velvety Napa Valley Red Blend!
SOLD OUT
After three decades of farming grapes for some of Napa Valley’s finest wine producers, Doug Hill and his family decided that their family should enter the wine business. In a very short period of time, they’ve risen the ranks and their current releases have garnered some great praise from a number of wine writers.
Robert Parker said the “2012 Proprietary Red is rich, dense and full-bodied with dark plum, blackcurrant and blueberry-like fruit. It’s elegant, pure, full-bodied with velvety texture and sweet tannin. Drinkable now, this wine should continue to offer delicious consumption for 5-7 years.” Good call Bob!
The wine is a collaboration between professional surfer Kenny Knox and Hill Family. It is a unique blend of 65% Merlot, 9% Syrah, 9% Malbec, 5% Petit Verdot, 5% Cab Sauvignon, 4% Zinfandel & 3% Petit Sirah aged for 14 months in French (90%) and American oak (10%).
Deeply colored, nearly opaque, the wine explodes out of the glass with aromas of warm, ripe, dark summer berries, mocha, vanilla and spice box leading into a supple and sumptuous palate of similar flavors. Soft in tannin, but huge in flavor, this will make lots of palates very happy!
