Try 3 For Free Wine Tasting - Big Red Wines

Saturday, February 4th from 2-5pm – Join us at Table Wine in South Asheville for a sampling of some big red wines, including the 95 point rated Tapiz Alta Collection Malbec. It’s our new Wine of the Week, it’s less than $20/bottle, and it’s your one chance to try it for free.

Winter is here, the nights are cold, and there’s nothing better for this situation than a big red wine to warm you up. We’re here to help and you are all invited to stop by the store this Saturday to sample some big, rich, full bodied reds from various corners of the globe. Up first, you will try the rich and round Cabernet Sauvignon from California’s Grayson Cellars — quite possibly the best “Cocktail Cab” out there (that means it doesn’t need food), it’s perfect for sipping in front of the fire. Up next, we’ll pour you a more structured and muscular (that means better with food) South African red blend from Thelema, one of the country’s most famed producers. To finish up, it’s the incredible Tapiz Alta Collection Malbec — this one scored 95 points with James Suckling and is made by Jean-Claude Berrouet, the longtime winemaker at Chateau Petrus. You don’t want to miss this one! Stop by, taste, learn and save big on all of the featured tasting wines.

1. 2015 Grayson Cellars Cabernet Sauvignon (Various Regions, California) – Grayson continues to wow us with high quality wines at extremely low prices. Their 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon is another super strong showing from this winery based in Napa Valley. Full bodied and packed with ripe aromas and flavors of dark cherry, cassis, light oak, soft tannin and mild acidity. This might qualify as the best under $15 Cabernet coming out of California right now.

2. 2013 Tapiz Alta Collection Malbec (Mendoza, Argentina) – It’s our new Wine of the Week, it scored 95 points, and it sells for less than $20! Yep, this one is a true gem from high altitude vineyards in Mendoza. Offering up soaring aromas and flavors of warm plum, cassis, exotic spice, and complex mineral, it is rich, ripe and ready to drink. Don’t miss your chance to try this one.

3. 2011 Hill Family Cabernet Sauvignon (Napa Valley, California) – In addition to making their own splendid wines, Hill Family sells fruits to some of Napa’s most prestigious wineries. Ever heard of Silver Oak, Pahlmeyer, or Ramey? If you answered yes, then you’ve tasted the glories of the grapes that this family grows on their 200+ acres of land scattered throughout Napa Valley. Their Cabernet Sauvignon is stylish, polished, pure and delicious. Notes of dark currant, black cherry, and blackberry are all framed nicely by toasty, spicy French oak. This is a real treat!
