2018 Domaine Vetriccie Ile de Beaute Rose

Delicious, dry, and zesty Corsican rose!

SOLD OUT

Established in 1966, Domaine Vetriccie is run with passion and vigor by Daniel Barcelo. He farms his 120 hectares sustainably and he’s firmly committed to a viticultural path that works in harmony with Corsican nature. With vineyards perfectly situated between the mountains and the sea, Daniel crafts elegant, fresh, and sophisticated wines.

The Vetriccie rose is a blend of native Corsican grapes that will be unfamiliar to many of you. Don’t worry, I’m here to break it down for you. The main grape is Nielluccio, Corsica’s most important red grape and a close relative to Italy’s Sangiovese. Up next is Sciaccerello, another of Corsica’s most vital red grapes, and believed to be related to the Ligurian/Tuscan grape Mammolo. And last, but not least, is Grenache, a grape found in almost all French dry rosés.

This combo of grapes is the key to this wine’s deliciousness. The Nielluccio contributes tangy and tart aromas and flavors of watermelon, cranberry, and pomegranate while the Sciaccerello adds hints of white flowers and spice. The Grenache adds a bit of body and hints of white pepper. The net result is a fresh, crisp, and full-flavored rosé that over-delivers in a big way.

Despite the wines slightly deeper color, it is fully dry and super zesty. Sometimes, deeper hued rosés are rounder, creamier, and sweeter, but that’s not the case here. This one gets the juices flowing, and that is a direct result of the wines brisk acidity. Enjoy this one with a nice chill on your patio/porch or take it to another level with a caprese salad.

With summer making an early arrival this year and sustained 80+ degree temperatures, this is the wine you want to be drinking.

This vintage is sold out. Click here to order the current release in our online store.
