Red Zinfandel is responsible for some of our country’s most pleasure-bent red wines. The grape occupies some of the oldest vineyards in all of California, and the grapes propensity to produce rich, zesty, and spicy wines is what makes it so easy to like. Stop by to sample some of the state’s top Red Zins from some of the top producers including Ehren Jordan’s Day, Morgan Twain-Peterson’s Bedrock, and a few others. Taste, learn, and save every Saturday at Table Wine!

All of the featured tasting wines are 20% off by the bottle on tasting day only.

1. 2018 Encostas do Lima Vinho Verde Rosé (Portugal) – No, it’s not Zinfandel, but you’re going to want something crisp and refreshing before we move into the Zin portion of the tasting. And this uber-refreshing, spritzy pink wine is the perfect way to wake up your palate and open up your taste buds.

2. NV Bedrock Shebang Red Cuvée XII – Along with Marietta Old Vine, the Shebang Red Blend is one of California’s great red wine values. Primarily Zinfandel from various sites throughout the state, with smaller amounts of Petite Sirah, Barbera, Grenache, and Alicante Bouschet, it’s a big, boisterous and hearty

3.2016 Field Recordings Fiction Red Blend (Paso Robles, California) – This one is hard not to like! Primarily Zinfandel with a smattering of other grapes, it comes from the warm and sunny vineyards of Paso Robles, in California’s Central Coast. Offering up tons of ripe berry fruit along with notes of peppery spice and herb, this full-bodied, supple, and juicy red will please many palates!

4. 2016 Day Zinfandel (Sonoma County, California) – Longtime Turley winemaker Ehren Jordan is making Zinfandel again, and we’re huge fans. “A terrific value, the 2016 Zinfandel Sonoma County offers terrific, classic notes of dried berry fruits, sandalwood, exotic spices, and brambly herbs in a medium-bodied, ultra-fine, elegant package. It’s very much in the style of the 2016 vintage with its focused, clean, classic style, and it’s going to drink beautifully for 7-8 years.” – Jeb Dunnuck – 92 points

5. Surprise Wine – We always end with a surprise, and I’m gonna’ give you a couple of hints. It’s from Bedrock, it’s a 94 pointer, and it’s sensational. We’ll only open one bottle of this one — get by early or miss out!
