Asheville's Best Free Wine Tasting!

Fun and Festive French Wines

Wine down your work week and get your week-end off to a good start with Asheville’s Best Wine Tasting every Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. The holiday season is just around the corner, and you know you’re going to need good, affordable, and honest wines for all of your parties and family gatherings. The French do this style of wine better than just about anyone else, and we invite you to stop by, taste, learn and save on some of our favorite fun and festive French wines this Friday.

We’ll start with the 2013 Jean de Roze Vin Blanc, a zesty, crisp and lively blend of Sauvignon Blanc, Chenin Blanc, and Ugni Blanc from the Languedoc Region. It exhibits bright notes of green apple and mixed citrus and tastes great with or without food. Also from the Languedoc region, the 2013 Claude Val Vin Blanc combines Grenache Blanc, Vermentino, Chasan and Sauvignon Blanc to create a rounded, spicy and floral-scented white wine that is just plain delicious.

Getting into the reds, the Non-Vintage Roncier Vin Rouge comes from the southern part of Burgundy and is composed entirely of Pinot Noir. Bright and juicy with notes of fresh cherry and strawberry fruit along with subtle notions of forest floor and spice, it’s a delicious wine to serve with fall favorite dishes like roast chicken and root vegetables. Next up, the 2013 Claude Val Vin Rouge is a blend of Grenache, Syrah, Merlot and Carignan that drinks a lot like a Cotes du Rhone. Soft and spicy, it offers up lots of fresh cherry and strawberry fruit, finishing with peppery spice and herb. We’ll finish with the 2013 Jean de Rozes Vin Rouge, a blend containing mainly Syrah with smaller portions of Grenache and Cinsault. Rich, dark fruited, spicy and herbaceous, this one likes richer dishes like lamb or beef stew.

Tasting wines are 10% off by the bottle, 15% off if you mix six of them, and 20% off if you mix twelve of them!
