Free Winter Whites Wine Tasting - Saturday, January 26

Free Winter Whites Wine Tasting - Saturday, January 26

Saturday, January 26th from 2-5pm – Who says you can’t drink white wine in the winter? Not us! And we’ll prove it this Saturday at our Free Winter Whites Wine Tasting. Stop by!

With our new bigger and better Saturday tasting format in place, we’re able to go deeper and further on tasting themes. And we’re excited to take you a fun and fantastic voyage of fuller-bodied and fuller-flavored whites this Saturday. In my opinion, it’s completely irrational to only drink reds in the cooler months and whites in the warmer ones. Do you stop eating lettuce, seafood, and vegetables in the winter? No, so don’t stop drinking whites! But focus on richer and more generously textured versions……….like the ones we’ll be pouring. It’s gonna’ be fun, it’s free, and all of the featured tasting wines are 20% off by the bottle. Stop by!

Asheville’s Best Free Wine Tasting – Just stop by – we’ve got plenty of free parking!

Don’t forget, all the featured tasting wines are 20% off by the bottle on tasting day.

1. 2017 Wilhelm Walch Prendo Pinot Grigio (Alto Adige, Italy) – So many of the value-priced Pinot Grigios on the market are devoid of character and flavor. This is not one of those! From one of the top producers in the Alto Adige, this is a bit richer and fuller-bodied with notes of peach, golden apple, flowers and spice. Dee-lish!

2. 2017 Jean Touzot Macon-Villages Vieilles Vignes (Burgundy, France) – Here’s a great, no oak Chardonnay at a great price. From vineyards in the southern part of Burgundy, it’s a classic Macon with lots of green apple, melon, white floral and mineral aromas and flavors.

3. 2016 Fontanavecchia Taburno Falanghina (Campania, Italy) – Consistently awarded Tre Bicchieri (the top rating) by Italy’s Gambero Rosso, this is a gem of a white wine and a great value as well. Falanghina is native to the southern part of Italy and when made well, like this one, it yields a fuller bodied, fleshy, exotically fruited white wine. Ideal served alongside fresh seafood, it also works just fine as an aperitif.

4. 2017 Domaine Lafage Cuvee Centenaire (Roussillon, France) – Jean-Marc Lafage runs one of the top estates in the Roussillon, and his white wine takes its name from the 100+ year-old Grenache Blanc and Grenache Gris Lafage farms just a few kilometers from the Mediterranean. Year in and year, it’s one of the world’s great white wine values, offering up lovely notes of white peach, citrus oils, baking spices, and salty minerality.

5. Surprise Wine – We always end the tasting with a surprise wine and I promise you that this one wine is worth stopping by!
