Free Wine Tasting

This Saturday, May 17th, 2014 from 2 to 5 p.m. — Free Saturday Wine Tasting? Heck Yeah! — Stop by the store this and every Saturday any time between 2 and 5 p.m. for the best free wine tasting in Asheville. This week, we’re setting our sites and palates on France’s Southern Rhone region. Grenache reigns supreme in this warm, sunny, and wind-swept zone, and we’ll be pouring a lovely little trio of Grenache-based wines, including a brand new dry rosé and two reds. Even better, all three of the wines come from small family producers and all are very reasonably priced.

We’ll start with the new 2013 Domaine de Couron Cotes du Rhone Rosé, one of our favorite dry rosé values every year. Based entirely on Grenache from vines that are nearly 40 years of age, this pretty, delicate, red fruit and floral flavored wine is fresh, crisp, pure and an absolute delight to drink. We’ll follow that up with the 2010 Domaine des Rozets Grignan des Adhemar, a Cotes du Rhone lookalike based on a blend of 60% Grenache, 35% Syrah and 5% Cinsault. With lots of earthy, spicy cherry and black cherry fruit, this medium weight red will offer pleasurable drinking for the next couple of years. We’ll finish up with the 2011 Domaine de Couron Cotes du Rhone Rouge, a blend of 60% Grenache and 40% Syrah. With more dark fruit, lots of spice, and some structure, this one is crying out for grilled meat. Join us to taste and learn every Saturday at Table Wine’s Free Wine Tasting. Don’t forget, all tasting wines are 10% off by the bottle and 15% off when you mix any six tasting wines!
