1. 2015 Domaine Sigalas “Aa” Assyrtiko/Athiri (Santorini, Greece) – Assyrtiko is the great white grape of Santorini, one of Greece’s top white wine zones. In the hands of Domaine Sigalas, one of the country’s greatest producers, greatness occurs. Intensely mineral and powerful, with notes lemon, pear, quince, and fleur de sel, this is Greece’s answer to French Chablis.

2. 2017 Can Sumoi Xarel-lo (Penedes, Spain) – This is an exciting one! A joint project of childhood friends Pepe Raventos and Francesc Escala of Raventos I Blanc, the wine is 100% Xarel-lo from high-altitude, organically farmed vineyards. Fermented with native yeasts in tank, the wine received weekly battonage for 3 months before bottling. No additives, no fining, and no filtration resulted in a beautiful natural wine with complex notes of fennel, anise, waxy apple, and Mediterranean herbs. Truly fascinating stuff! 91 points Wine Advocate

3. 2017 Penya Cotes Catalanes Rouge (Roussillon) – I know, it’s not an obscure white, but it’s our new Case of the Month, and it’s fantastic. Rich, plush, and decadent, this blend of Grenache, Syrah, Mourvedre, and Carignan delivers notes of warm blueberry, plum, peppery spice, and Mediterranean herbs. 92 points Jeb Dunnuck
