Free Tuscan Wine Tasting

Friday, August 25th from 4-7pm – Join us for a free Tuscan Wine Tasting this Friday at Table Wine in South Asheville. It’s the best free wine tasting in Asheville, and you’re invited! Stop by the store this Friday to sample a trio of top notch Tuscan red wines guaranteed to blow your mind. Katerina Dordelman of Sour Grapes Wines joins us to guide you through some of the classics as well as some of the region’s newer school wines.

Up first, it’s the always delicious Unlitro from Ampeleia — a blend of Grenache and Mourvedre from coastal Tuscany, this is bright, juicy and refreshing wine that reminds us a bit of Cru Beaujolais. After that, the Tenuta Monteti Caburnio is a tremendous Super Tuscan value. A blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Alicante Bouschet and Merlot from Maremma along Tuscany’s coast, this one is powerful and structured — think Bordeaux with a suntan! To finish, the new vintage of Il Palazzino’s Chianti Classico Argenina is one for the ages. Dense, powerful and intense, you won’t find a better under-$20 Chianti anywhere. For fans of super high quality Tuscan reds, you don’t want to miss this tasting. Stop by, taste, learn and save big on all of the featured tasting wines.

The Wines
Save big on all of the tasting wines! Mix any 3 of them and save 10%, mix any 6 and save 15%, or mix any 12 and save 20%!

1. 2016 Ampeleia Unlitro (Tuscany, Italy) – This biodynamic/organic red wine from Tuscany is made by the super talented Elisabetta Foradori. The blend is Grenache and Mourvedre, and both of these grapes thrive in the warm and sunny conditions of coastal Tuscany. Fresh, juicy, charming and joyful to drink, this is a great one for fans of Beaujolais and Pinot Noir. Even better, it comes in a liter bottle giving you an extra 1/3 of a bottle!

2. 2013 Tenuta Monteti Caburnio (Tuscnay, Italy) – Respected wine writer/critic Antonio Galloni sums it up pretty nicely. “Tenuta Monteti remains arguably the single finest source for reasonably priced wines in Maremma.” Produced from organically cultivated grapes from the warm and sunny coast of Tuscany, this offers up big, bold Super Tuscan flavors at a ridiculously good price. A blend of 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Merlot, 15% Alicante-Bouschet, 5% Cabernet Franc and 5% Petit Verdot, this dazzles with intense notes of dark cherry, blackberry, mint, herb and spice notes.

3. 2013 Il Palazzino Chianti Classico Argenina (Tuscany, Italy) – Brothers Alessandro and Andrea Sderci run one of the finest estates in Chianti Classico. Based in the village of Gaiole, their wines offer loads of quality and character at great prices. Their Chianti Classico Argenina is always good, but they really nailed it with their 2013 bottling. Almost all Sangiovese, this is one of the more muscular and powerful Chiantis of the region. Antonio Galloni rated this one 91 points and called it an “especially intense Argenina endowed with striking aromatic intensity and equally explosive structure.” Yep, he’s right!
