Free Red Zinfandel Tasting - Friday, May 25th

Friday, May 25th from 4-7pm – Get your weekend off to a good start with our Free Red Zinfandel Tasting. You’re invited to Asheville’s best free wine tasting. Just stop by – we’ve got plenty of free parking.

First and foremost, please note that this is a RED Zinfandel Tasting — there will be no sweet, pink wines poured. Red Zinfandel, or Red Zin as if often goes by, is one of the all-time great spring and summer grilling wines. With its core of bold and ripe berry fruit, peppery spice, and zesty acidity, the grape was born to be served with steaks, chops, and barbecue. Join us to sample a trio of Red Zinfandels — from simple and easy-going to regal and grand, we’re covering all bases here folks. Taste, learn, save every Friday at Table Wine.

All of the featured tasting wines are 20% off by the bottle on tasting day only! Can’t make it, but want to take advantage of the savings? Call us at 828.505.8588, and we can run your card over the phone.

1. 2014 Mannara Primitivo (Puglia, Italy) – Primitivo is the Italian name for Zinfandel, and this is a great introduction. A top candidate for your new “house red,” this one delivers tons of charm and pleasure at more-than-fair price. Bursting with notes of ripe cherry and raspberry, it’s not the most complex thing in the world. But at less than $8/bottle, what more could you ask for?

2. 2015 Pedroncelli Zinfandel “Bushnell Vineyard” (Dry Creek Valley, California) – Pedroncelli is one of Sonoma County’s oldest producers, and their Bushnell Vineyard yields some heady and hearty Zinfandel. Planted back in the 1940’s, these old vines deliver the quintessential, Dry Creek Zinfandel experience. “Briary and full of verve, with wild berry, mocha and orange zest aromas that lead to lively black cherry and licorice flavors. Drink now through 2023.” – Wine Spectator – 91 points

3. 2014 Limerick Lane Zinfandel (Russian River Valley, California) – This stuff is NEXT LEVEL GOOD! Since purchasing Limerick Lane in 2011, Jake Bilbro has established it as one of the top Zinfandel producers in Sonoma. Their 2014 is in fine form — here’s what Antonio Galloni of Vinous Media had to say: “The 2014 Zinfandel (Russian River Valley) is flat out delicious. Supple, silky and enveloping, the 2014 captures the full personality of this site. Succulent red cherry, plum, menthol, licorice and sweet pipe tobacco are front and center.”
