You know I love Italian wines and I know you all love them too! For this tasting, we’ll take you a tour of Italy with wines from north, south, east and west. There’s a couple of fun new arrivals from Lazio, just outside of Rome, along with some classics from the Veneto, the Piemonte and beyond. Stop by, taste, learn and save every Saturday at Table Wine.

Don’t forget, all the featured tasting wines are 20% off by the bottle on tasting day.

1. 2018 Castello di Torre in Pietra Elephas Bianco (Lazio, Italy) – Here’s a new value-priced white from a certified organic, family-run estate just outside of Rome. A vibrant blend of Fiano, Trebbiano and Vermentino, this one is fresh, aromatic, and delightful.

2. 2018 Inama Soave Classico (Veneto, Italy) – In a sea of uninspiring and insipid Soave, a handful of producers like Inama make compelling, thought-provoking wines. Their current release is 100% Garganega from organically farmed, old vine, hillside vineyards. Fermented in stainless steel with some lees aging, this one blasts out of the glass with notes of dried apple, ripe lemon, mango, and exotic white flowers. 92 points James Suckling

3. 2018 Castello di Torre in Pietra Elephas Rosso (Lazio, Italy) – The estate’s red blends Montepulciano and Sangiovese with just a touch of Merlot. Fermentation and aging is carried out in stainless steel and cement vats to create a lively and easy drinking red perfect for everyday consumption.

4. 2017 GD Vajra Rosso Langhe (Piemonte, Italy) – One of the all-time great red wine values of Italy, Barolo superstar GD Vajra crafts this wine by blending all of the great red grapes of the Piedmont. A field blend of Barbera, Nebbiolo, Dolcetto and a handful of other grapes, it sings of fresh cherries, strawberry and raspberry, with subtle floral nuances too. Playful and energetic, but far from simple, this is great with pizza and lighter pasta dishes.

5. Surprise Wine – Like surprises? Trust me, you’ll like this one!
