Distinctive White Wines of Western Europe

Join us this Friday any time between 4 and 7 p.m. to “wine down” your work week and get your week end off to a good start with the best wine tasting in Asheville! This week, we’ll be pouring and talking about delicious and distinctive white wines from various parts of the Euro-Zone. Team Table Wine is comprised of three dudes who all absolutely love white wine, and we’re excited to get these into your tasting glasses this week! The cost for the tasting is just $5 to try 5 wines.

We’ll start with the 2013 Pietralta Bianco Toscana, a wine that works great as a Pinot Grigio alternative. Composed of Trebbiano and Malvasia, it’s about as fresh as white wine can get. Up next, the 2013 Oltretorrente Cortese Colli Tortonesi is made from the same grape (Cortese) that is used to make Gavi, one of Northern Italy’s most famous white wines. With great purity, texture and minerality, this is perfect for the white wine geek.

We depart Northwestern Italy and head next to Northwestern Spain’s, one of the top white wine zones in the country. The 2012 Benaza Godello is a real charmer! With nice body and texture, this peach, pear and spice scented wine will remind some of Chardonnay. Even better, the 2012 Benito Santos Albarino is one of the best we’ve ever stocked. This was one of the pioneering producers of Albarino, and the wine is absolutely sensational — super dry, intense and mineralic, it lights up the palate with lime, lemon and pineapple fruit. And to finish up, we head south into Portugal with the 2012 Luis Pato Branco Vinhas Velhas. It is without a doubt the best white wine we’ve ever had from Portugal. We’ll tell you more about it when we see you this Friday!

Tasting wines are 10% off by the bottle, 15% off if you mix six of them, and 20% off if you mix twelve of them!
