Grapes from steep slate hillsides and terraces picked by hand into 10 Kg. Selected berry by berry on a double sorting table and then transferred to tanks by gravity. Fermentation in 15 and 30 Hl wooden and stainless steel tanks. Malolactic conversion and aging in fine-grained, medium and lightly-toasted 225l French oak barrels for 15 months. Bottled unfinished and unfiltered. Bottle aged for a minimum of 11 months.
Blend: 86% Carignan, 14% Grenache
"I found the 2018 Vinyes Velles to be quite ripe with notes of prunes and decayed violets, with 14.5% alcohol and a low pH, so the nose seems overripe but the palate feels fresher. It's 84% Cariñena and 16% Garnacha matured in 225-liter oak barrels for 15 months. Ripe and generously oaked. 23,920 bottles and 501 magnums. It was bottled in July 2020.
