Bodega Chacra is the creation of Piero Incisa della Rocchetta, grandson of Marchese Mario Incisa della Rocchetta of Sassicaia fame. Piero encountered a Patagonian Pinot Noir at a tasting in New York several years back, and he was so taken with it that he began buying old, abandoned vineyards in this wind-swept and isolated region.

Piero's Cincuenta y Cinco is crafted from an old, un-grafted Pinot Noir vineyard planted in 1955. All of the farming is organic and biodynamic, the winemaking uses minimal intervention, and the finished wine is so beautiful, so elegant, and so stunningly aromatic.

It really is Sassicaia meets Red Burgundy! Offering up a gorgeous perfume of cool cherry, raspberry, orange zest, and spice, as this gets more air, it gets even more profound. The previous vintage took home 99 points from Robert Parker's Wine Advocate, and we'd say the new vintage is just as good. All in all, it's one of the top and most singular expressions of Pinot Noir produced anywhere in the world.
