"Wine-Down" your Wednesday with a fun and educational tasting at Asheville's Neighborhood Wine Shop since 2010! We've had a lot of requests for more tasting and learning opportunities, and we listened. Join us for this tasting where Table Wine founder and owner Josh Spurling will guide you through a tasting of Cabernet's parent grapes (Sauvignon Blanc and Cab Franc) along with 2 Cabs that will help you "put the pieces together."

We always pour great wines at our tastings, even our free Saturday tastings, but for our paid tastings, we break out the good stuff. We're talking highly-rated, highly-allocated, and very special wines, and all of the wines will be offered at discounted prices to paid attendees.

This is a drop-in, open-house style tasting, and you can stop by any time between 3-6 PM, whatever your schedule allows. We'll have some light nibbles out for palate cleansing purposes, and it will only take you 15-30 minutes to taste and learn. We hope you can make it!

The Wines:
The lineup is subject to change based on availability, but if we have to make a substitution, it will be a good one!

1. 2023 Dog Point Sauvignon Blanc (Marlborough, New Zealand)
Dog Point was started by Ivan and Margaret Sutherland and James and Wendy Healy, who prior worked together at Cloudy Bay. The vineyard is one of New Zealand's oldest, and it is the largest certified organic vineyard in the country. Always one of the best Sauvignon Blancs to come out of Marlborough, the 2023 is concentrated and pure, with classic notes of passion fruit, grapefruit, nectarine, and herb. 93 points Vinous Media

2. 2023 Domaine Guiberteau Saumur Rose (Loire Valley, France)
Romaine Guiberteau is crafting some of the Loire Valley's most sought after wines, and his rose of Cabernet Franc (Cab Sauv's "father grape) is exquisite this vintage. Smelling of strawberry, cherry, raspberry, basil, and oregano, it's an absolute joy to drink. It's also very allocated, and this will be the only time we pour this one this year.

3. 2021 Rustenberg Cabernet Sauvignon (Stellenbosch, South Africa)
Rustenberg is one of South Africa’s oldest and most distinguished wine farms, with a viticultural history dating back to 1682. The estate's Cabernet Sauvignon gives us serious Left Bank Bordeaux vibes with it's dusty, spicy, savory, and dark-fruited character. Gorgeous aromas and flavors of black currant, mulberry, and blackberry are accented by more complex notes of vanilla, tobacco, and smoky mineral.

4. 2022 Venge 'Silencieux' Cabernet Sauvignon (Napa Valley, California)
One of the best premium Napa Valley Cab values out there, Kirk Venge's 2022 Silencieux is just downright majestic. A blend of fruit from Oakville, Calistoga, and Rutherford, this really captures the spirit of Napa Valley Cab. Super full-bodied and loaded with notes of creme de cassis, dark cherry, high grade dark chocolate, vanilla, and spice box, despite the wine's weight, it is very supple and smooth. A taste of this is worth the price of entry!

Our tastings tend to sell out quite fast, and due to the size of the store, we can only take 20 tasters.
