The hamlet of Quincy was the Loire Valley's first AOC and France's second, just behind Chateauneuf du Pape. It lies just west of Sancerre and Menetou-Salon, and it is one of the great Sauvignon Blanc zones of the Loire Valley and of the world.
Adele Rouze is unquestionably one of the top producers in the region. She works with vines planted between 1920 and 1950, she farms organically, she ferments with native yeasts, and she makes one wine. This is it! Boasting great concentration and a stunning nose of Bosc pear, ripe citrus, green herb, lime zest, and the kind of intense minerality you'll only find in world-class, Loire Valley whites.
The unique soils of Quincy (sand, flint, and limestone) drain well, forcing the vines to fight for their lives. The vine's struggle is our reward, as it coaxes out intense and exuberant aromas and flavors. It's a testament to the fact that Quincy is home to some of the best Sauvignon Blanc terroir on the planet.
Let me sum it up. This is better than most $30-$35 Sancerres and Pouilly Fumes, it's made by one of the top producers in the greater Loire Valley, and it comes to you at a great price. I happily took my 14 case allocation. When you get this home and into your glass, I'm sure you will agree that it was a good decision :)
