Stefan Rosner Rose Vom Zweigelt 2021

Downright Chuggable: 2021 Stefan Rosner Rose Vom Zweigelt

It's the most wonderful time of the year, and no, it's not Christmas. It's Dry Rose Season folks, and the first wines of the 2021 vintage are landing fast and furious.

This one, produced by the young and up and coming Stefan Rosner, is made with Austria's native Zweigelt grape. It's organic, it's dry, crisp, and refreshing, and it's ultimately delicious.

It is hard to put into words how much I love this wine, but I'll do my best. Austrian rising star Stefan Rosner's rose is every bit as good as a top Provencal rose. Pale in color, mouthwateringly delicious, and bone dry, this might end up being our top-selling rose of 2022.

Rosner's wines are new to the United States and are brought to us by another rising star, importer Alex Finberg of Transparent Wine Co. Every wine I've tasted with Alex has been very good to absolutely freaking delicious, and I look forward to introducing you all to more of his selections. Let's start with this one though.

Zweigelt is one of Austria's most important and widely planted red wine varieties, and it is often compared to Pinot Noir. It tends to yield low tannin and high acid reds, but like Pinot Noir, it's a perfect grape for making dry rose. This one exudes lovely notes of delicate red fruits, fresh herbs, white flowers, and mineral. Super zesty and 100% dry on the palate, this is a wine that will wake up your taste buds.

I know spring isn't quite here yet, but it's close, very close. Stock up on this one and drink a bottle now with some sushi, and save a bottle to sip on a warm and sunny spring day. Just 10 cases available -- get some before it's gone!
