2019 Domaine Duffour Cotes de Gascogne Blanc

2019 Domaine Duffour Cotes de Gascogne Blanc

Let me start by saying the 2019 Domaine Duffour Cotes de Gascogne Blanc is one of the best white wine values in the world. For fans of crisp and clean whites like Sauvignon Blanc, you’re going to flip when you try this.

While many of the white wines from Gascogne come from large-scale wine factories, this one comes from an independent vigneron. A blend of old vine Colombard, Ugni Blanc, and Gros Manseng, this stainless steel fermented white is already a top seller in the store.

Proprietor Michel Duffour has run his family’s estate since the 1980’s. In addition to making wines, his estate is also revered for their Armagnac, a specialty of the region. And it’s the vines that Michel’s father planted back in the 60’s for Armagnac production that make into this bottle of wine.

These old vines yield an intensely aromatic wine with concentrated flavors. With exuberant aromas and flavors of melon, mixed citrus, and pungent herbs, this dry and vivacious white is the ideal summer sipper. A bit weightier than Sauvignon Blanc, but still super fresh and clean, I love drinking this one nicely chilled on hot and sunny summer days.

I honestly don’t know what more you could ask for in a summer white that comes to you at such a good price. Enjoy it with friends and/or with fresh fish, seafood, and summer veggies. Those you share it with will swear you spent $15 to $20. I guarantee it. 14 cases just landed, but being that this one sells well at $11.99/bottle, don’t trust that it will be around for long at the deal price.
