Bethel Heights Estate Pinot Noir 2017

Bethel Heights Estate Pinot Noir - Best Price In The Country

SOLD OUT! With Thanksgiving just a few days away, I’m running a quick sale on the 2015 Bethel Heights Estate Pinot Noir. This is a wine that has garnered 91-93 points from four of the most trusted periodicals.

And when you add to that the fact that Bethel Heights is one of Oregon’s blue-chip estates, you can’t lose here. Offering up silky layers of red fruit and spice, it’s a gorgeous expression of Willamette Valley Pinot Noir.

SOLD OUT

Some of you might remember Bethel Heights from a previous offer I put out. Their 2014 AEolian Pinot Noir was Wine Spectator’s top-rated Oregon Pinot Noir of that highly acclaimed vintage. And 2015 was another fantastic vintage in Oregon — Wine Spectator rated the vintage 95 points, saying, “Large clusters helped to balance a hot vintage toward elegance.” That’s relevant in this wine — it’s certainly ripe and fuller bodied, but it’s still oh-so elegant and seamless.

And it out-performed some serious “heavies, ” out-scoring the $90 Archery Summit Archer’s Edge, the $50 Argyle Master’s Series, the $62 Bergstrom Gregory Ranch, and the $100 Evening Land Seven Springs, to name a few. Wine Spectator says this one is “focused, with a lively core of fresh acidity and broad-shouldered tannins, keenly balanced by cherry and guava flavors, accented by hints of sandalwood and spice.” Yep, that sounds about right.

And James Suckling said, the palate “is very velvety and shows lovely density with layers of fruit, fresh acidity and a long finish.” He would be right! And finally, Wine Enthusiast says it’s “smooth and seductive, with a kiss of dark chocolate on the finish.” They’re all right, and these notes are very consistent with my own.

What more can I say? Is it as good as the Colene Clemens Dopp Creek Pinot Noir, the one I offered up a few weeks ago that just took the #8 spot on Wine Spectator’s Top 100 wines of the year? Yes, I think it is! It actually has a similar style, balancing ripeness with acidity, and countering bold fruit with savory spice and earth notes. And we don’t have any more of the Colene Clemens to sell!
