Ripe and Aromatic White Burgundy: Domaine Dupeuble Beaujolais Blanc

Ripe and Aromatic White Burgundy: Domaine Dupeuble Beaujolais Blanc

The Domaine Dupeuble Beaujolais Blanc is one of the top whites produced in the region. 100% Chardonnay from vineyards in the southern part of Beaujolais, where the soils contain more limestone, this is “no oak,” White Burgundy done right.

Domaine Dupeuble has been in the same family hands since 1512! Let’s just say they know a thing or two about their land, the grapes, and healthy farming and winemaking. It shows in this beautifully fragrant and pure white wine that would give many Pouilly Fuissés a run for their money. This is another micro-production wine brought in by importer Kermit Lynch, and it’s full of heart and soul.

If it’s from Beaujolais and it’s imported by Kermit Lynch, you know it's going to be good. Trust me, Dupeuble's Beaujolais Blanc is brilliant this vintage. I remember the good old days when I could just order this wine as needed. Those days are long gone, as this wine has gained many admirers over the past 12 years.

These days, I take what I can get! There's a good reason this wine has grown in popularity. It's a serious wine, and it's seriously delicious. With White Burg prices continuing to go up due to low supply/high demand, this is a stellar value in hand-crafted, artisanal, family-made wine. It's also the perfect wine for those who do not like oaky Chardonnay.

Just because it's not oaked doesn't mean it's light! Far far from it, this is quite concentrated, full, and rich even though it remains light on its feet. That feat is accomplished by a gentle pressing in stainless steel, followed by a brief cold soak where the grape skins and juice spend some time together.

The resulting wine is deep straw/golden in color, and the nose is pure, unbridled, and uninhibited Chardonnay. Gorgeous notes of honey crisp apple, white peach, pear, spice, and honeysuckle show up both on the nose and the palate. And just so you know it’s Burgundy, this one finishes with a nice little burst of minerality.

A white wine perfect for all seasons, this one is also very versatile with a wide variety of dishes. Try it with anything from poultry and pork to salmon and scallops. It will make your dish shine and your guests happy!
