2017 Saouma Inopia Cotes du Rhone Villages Rouge

2017 Saouma Inopia Cotes du Rhone Villages Rouge

We featured Saouma’s Inopia Cotes du Rhone Villages Rouge just before Easter, and it sold out in a matter of hours. Guess what? We got more of this “Burgundy meets Rhone-styled” red, and it’s back on sale at one of the best prices in the country.

Rotem and Mounir Saouma make some of the most uniquely thrilling wines in the Southern Rhone, and their latest releases are better than ever. By combining Burgundian winemaking techniques with the grapes of the Southern Rhone, they are crafting some of the most uniquely delicious wines in the Southern Rhone.

What If I told you’d I’d found a red that combined the elegance and savory complexity of a Cote de Nuits Red Burgundy with the plump and ripe joyousness of a Southern Rhone? You’d probably be intrigued right? If I then told you it was less than thirty bucks, you’d be all over it, wouldn’t you? Guess what? I’ve found it, and when you taste this stuff, you’re going to be a very happy camper.

Like their white, which it also on sale, this is everything I look for and more in a Table Wine selection. Click here to check out their white and learn more about this groundbreaking estate, but for this post, we’re focusing on their red. A Grenache-driven blend from a single vineyard just outside of Chateauneuf du Pape, this reminds me a lot of Charvin’s silky and spicy Chateauneuf du Pape. The only difference is this one comes to you at half the price.

A Southern Rhone made with Burgundian technique, this will go down as one of my favorite reds of 2021. Rich, ripe, spicy, complex, and fine-grained, it’s really hard for me to put into words how good this stuff is. Like his Châteauneuf-du-Papes, Mounir’s Inopia Rouge exhibits tremendous finesse and balance. Silky, elegant, and packed with intricate flavor, this is one of those wines that makes me know I’ve picked the perfect profession.

Sound good? Trust me, it is! To place your order, use the contact form below or call us at 828.505.8588.
