Ladies Night at Table Wine
Thursdy, May 12 from 7-9 p.m.
$10 per lady/$8 for Grape Nuts
We’re kicking off what we hope will become a monthly event this Thursday night at Table Wine in South Asheville. Statistics show that nearly 60% of wine purchases are made by women, and this trend is pretty accurate for Table Wine as well. As a show of our appreciation for your loyalty to our store, we’re offering you a night to taste wine, eat chocolate and mingle with all of your girlfriends. Your friendly wine monger Josh will be the only guy in the house, and his role will be to make sure that your glass doesn’t go empty.
We want to stress that this will be a casual, informal gathering where you can just hang out and relax with friends. We’ll set up tables and chairs so you can relax with your friends, but Josh will not be giving a “lecture” on the wines. He’s there to answer your questions, but not to interfere in your fun. At the end of the day, it’s just $10 to taste 6 wines, and we’d love to create a space in South Asheville for women to gather with their friends and have a good time. We hope you’ll join us. Here are the wines that you’ll get to try……….keep in mind it’s Table Wine so just because you haven’t heard of the wine doesn’t mean it’s not good:
Francois Pinon Sparkling Vouvray Brut Loire Valley, France
Francois Pinon is one of the top 3 producers in Vouvray, and his sparkling version is dangerously addictive, with intense earthy minerality layered with ripe pear, apple, citrus and fig notes.
German Gilabert Cava Brut Rosato Penedes, Spain
One of my favorite dry rosés in the store, this one comes from an organic vineyard planted to Grenache and Trapat. It abounds with aromas and flavors of cherry, raspberry, blood orange and earth. Almost like a Burgundy with bubbles!
Domaine Ricard Touraine Blanc “Le Petiot” Loire Valley, France
100% Sauvignon Blanc from the vineyards of Vincent Ricard, one of the top young growers in the region. He works very hard to make small amounts of delicious, mineral infused Sauvignon Blanc. Tastes a bit like Sancerre at a much more friendly price.
Big Vine Chardonnay Napa Valley, California
Some of you have enjoyed the Big Vine Cabernet Sauvignon, which is one of the top selling Cabs in the store at the moment. The Chardonnay is equally good, being composed primarily of fruit from Carneros. Ripe and full bodied, with notes of tropical fruits, spiced apple, buttered peach and some toasty notes.
Joseph Voillot Bourgogne “Vieilles Vignes”, France
100% Pinot Noir from 40 year old vines located in the villages of Pommard and Volnay. This is that light, refreshing, layered and complex style of Burgundy showing bright cherry, black tea and earth notes.
Federico Ribera del Duero Tinto, Spain
Federico Fernandez makes the quintessential Ribera del Duero, a wine based entirely on Tempranillo from the hot and dry region of Ribera del Duero. This will appeal to those who like fuller, richer red wines and it would be perfect for summer grilling and chilling.
