Wine 101: Cabernet Sauvignon vs. Merlot - Wednesday, May 8th., 2013 - 7-9 pm

Cabernet Sauvignon is the most beloved red wine amongst Americans while Merlot has gotten a bad rap because of a certain wine related movie. In all actuality, the grapes are quite similar and often produce wines with similar personalities. Don’t believe me? Then put your palate to the test at this seated tasting in the Table Wine classroom. We’ll pour you three different flights of wine from three different countries, and in each flight, one of the wines will be Cab-dominant while the other will be Merlot-dominant. Your job will be to analyze the wines (remember – see, swirl, sniff, sip and savor) and rate them and try to guess which one is which. There’s no winning or losing here folks – it’s just a chance for you to try wines with little pretense and let your nose and your palate be the judge. Bread, cheese and other light palate cleansers are included with the price of entry.
