Join us this Friday for a free wine tasting featuring a trio of our favorite Willamette Valley wines. Taste the the 2015 Kings Ridge Pinot Noir, our new Wine of the Week and the best under-$20 Oregon Pinot Noir we’ve ever tasted!
Oregon has enjoyed a string of back to back incredible vintages. Both 2014 and 2015 are being called two of the best vintages in the history of the state. Hot and dry conditions yielded fuller, riper wines than usual, and I’m a huge fan. Stop by and taste what I’m talking about. Up first, it’s an incredible, Burgundy-like Chardonnay from Omero Cellars. One of the best domestic Chardonnay values in the store, I can’t get enough of this stuff. Next, it’s an aromatic and delicious white blend from the folks at Anne Amie. An Alsatian-like field blend of Riesling, Muller Thurgau, Pinot Blanc and a few others, it is lightly effervescent and fruit forward. To finish, it’s the brilliant 2015 Pinot Noir from Kings Ridge. I just had a bottle of this the other night, and it reminded me of wines that typically cost $30+. Flowing with silky red fruits, baking spices, and a hint of earth, this medium bodied red is really delicious this year. Stop by, taste, learn and save big on all of the featured tasting wines.
All of the featured tasting wines are on sale the day of the tasting: take 10% off if you mix any 3, 15% off if you mix any 6, or 20% off if you mix any 12.
1. 2014 Omero Cellars Chardonnay (Willamette Valley, Oregon) – This small winery sources grapes from organic, biodynamic and sustainably farmed vineyards. And they put those grapes to good use! Winemaker Sarah Cabot ferments with indigenous yeasts low and slow — the fermentation takes place in a mixture of new and used French oak and takes 8 months to complete. This slow and natural fermentation saps all of the flavor out of the grapes, and this is a very complex and full flavored Chardonnay.
Tasting Price: $22.49 in mixed 3-packs | $21.24 in mixed 6-packs | $19.99 in mixed cases
2. 2015 Anne Amie Cuvée A “Amrita” (Willamette Valley, Oregon) – The name Amrita comes from the Buddhist equivalent of ambrosia, or a wine of the gods. Anne Amie’s white blend combines 6 different white grapes together each harvest to create an irresistible, lightly effervescent, fruit-forward wine. A blend of Riesling, Muller-Thurgau, Pinot Blanc, Viognier, Gewurztraminer, and Chardonnay, it is fruit filled and just off-dry. We think it’s the perfect white wine to pair with spicy Asian or Indian cuisine.
Tasting Price: $15.29 on mixed 3-packs | $14.44 on mixed 6-packs | $13.59 on mixed cases
3. 2015 Kings Ridge Pinot Noir (Willamette Valley, Oregon) – Ryan Harms started Union Wine Company with goal of “making wines for everyone.” He has succeeded! His wines are affordable, they’re delicious, and here’s the proof. A wonderful rendition of Willamette Valley Pinot Noir, his 2015 is the best value of its type that we’ve ever stocked.
