Stop by Table Wine this Friday for a free Southern Hemisphere Wine Tasting! We’ll pull the corks on some delicious wines from South Africa, Chile, and Argentina, and you’re invited!
Wine has been produced in the Southern Hemisphere since the 1500’s. Back then, the wines were less than stellar and often made for religious purposes. In the past 30 to 40 years, however, the wines have improved dramatically. In fact, today the wines are better than ever and easily compete on the world stage. Join us to find out what makes Southern Hemisphere wines unique and why you should be buying them.
All of the featured tasting wines are being offered at 20% off by the bottle!
1. 2017 De Wetshof Chardonnay “Limestone Hill” (Robertson, South Africa) – Danie de Wet and his family, simply put, make some of South Africa’s top Chardonnays, and this is a brilliant effort. “Plump and enticing, with a mix of star fruit, pear, and green and yellow apple fruit flavors caressed by a light shortbread hint on the rounded finish.” – Wine Spectator – 88 points
Special Tasting Price: $11.99/bottle
2. 2016 Vina Maitia Aupa Pipeño (Maule Valley, Chile) – Pipeño is the traditional method of winemaking in Chile, which dates back to the late 16th century. The Aupa Pipeño from Viña Maitia is an old school blend of 80% País (aka Mission/Listan Negro/Criolla Grande) and 20% Carignan from a 10 hectare, 120-year-old, dry farmed vineyard in the Maule Valley of Chile. Luis Gutierrez of the Wine Advcocate called it “super-tasty and gulpable.” I agree! –

3. 2016 Finca Sophenia Malbec Reserva (Mendoza, Argentina) – 96-point-rated Malbec for less than $15? Yep! I’ve been selling these wines for over ten years, and it’s awesome to see how far they’ve come. Great Britain’s Decanter said, “Very deep and dark aromas unfold onto a palate flaunting breathtaking concentration of fruit. Intense aromas of floral-tinged black cherry and blueberry fruit, with beautiful length and elegance of herbal and floral black fruit on the palate. Looks, feels and tastes expensive.”
