Free Saturday Wine Tasting: Extreme European Values

March 1, 2014 @ 2:00 am - 5:00 pm

Free

Join us this and every Saturday for our weekly free wine tasting!  This week, we’re going to introduced you to a great new batch of “Tuesday Night Wines”; translated, these are delicious and affordable wines that you can feel comfortable opening any night of the week.  Although we sell our fair share of premium, high end wine, we pride ourselves on finding you the best wine values in the world, and we’re going to pour you a few of our new favorites this Saturday.

We’ll start with a dry, peach and pear fruited Pinot Grigio from Romania that is one of the best values we’ve ever come across for this varietal.  After that, we’ve got a new Tempranillo that is just going to rock your world; it’s ripe, it’s juicy, it disappears very quickly once opened.  Last, but not least, we’ll break out an oldie but goodie Spanish Garnacha that is drinking incredibly well right now.  If you’re a fan of Cotes du Rhones, you must stop by and try this one.  Join us to taste and learn about the wonderful world of wine, one sip at a time!

The Wines

1. 2012 Dreambird Pinot Grigio (Various Parts, Romania): Our first Romanian wine is a 100% winner!  Dry, nicely textured, and boasting aromas and flavors of fresh pear, apple, lemon and white florals, it’s the perfect uncomplicated white wine for every day drinking.

2. 2012 Flaco Tempranillo (Madrid, Spain): The word “Flaco” in Spanish means “dude,” and this is a wine that all dudes can enjoy over the next year.  A good pizza/hamburger wine, Flaco’s 2012 Tempranillo (100% Tempranillo) is a noteworthy value at $9 a bottle. Light-bodied with plenty of herbaceous strawberry and sweet cherry fruit, it offers a pleasant mouthfeel as well as good texture.

3. 2012 Monte Oton Garnacha (Campo de Borja, Spain): Monte Oton comes from hillside vineyards planted at an elevation of 1,200 feet on the southern side of the Moncayo mountain range, and it represents one of the great red wine values in thew world. No oak is used in this totally naked red. This fresh, medium to full-bodied, supple-textured, hedonistic as well as intellectually challenging wine should drink well for 2-3 years.
