Free Italian Wine Tasting

April 20 @ 4:00 pm - 7:00 pm

Free Italian Wine Tasting - Table Wine - Asheville - North Carolina

Join us this Friday for a free Italian wine tasting at Table Wine in South Asheville. We’re pulling the corks on some new Italian wines, and we can’t wait to share them with you. Just stop by — no RSVP required and we’ve got plenty of free parking.

Good Italian wines possess great and refreshing acidity, making them great wines to enjoy when the temperatures rise. And the temperatures are certainly rising. Stop by the store this Friday to taste what I’m talking about! Up first, we’ll start with the best Prosecco I’ve ever tasted……..hands down…….in my 20 year wine career. After that, it’s a rich and substantial dry rose that tastes of summer berries and sunshine. And to finish up, it’s a complex and tantalizing Sicilian red from one of the island’s top producers. It’s Asheville’s best free wine tasting, and you’re invited! Taste, learn, save every Friday at Table Wine.

1. 2016 Alla Costiera Prosecco (Veneto, Italy) – I challenge you not to like this incredible Prosecco. The story is great too! 100% Glera grapes from certified organic vineyards, it is fermented in tiny, 250 case lots. Bursting with lovely aromas and flavors of ripe apple, pear, white flowers, and yeast, this is a different breed of Prosecco.

2. 2016 Torre dei Beati Cerasuolo d’Abruzzo (Abruzzo, Italy) – This certified-organic family owned and operated estate grows indigenous Abruzzese grapes. Fittingly, their Cerasuolo (dry rose — literally translates to cherry) is 100% Montepulciano. When I tasted this with Jay Murrie of Piedmont Wine Imports, I was floored. It is a big rose in perfect balance and boasting bold summer flavors — a wine for bouillabaisse, grilled meats, and ceviche.

3. 2013 Valle dell’Acate Cerasuolo di Vittoria (Sicily, Italy) – Cerasuolo simply means “cherry,” but it is also one of Sicily’s most important DOCG’s. Cerasuolo di Vittoria allows producers to blend the island’s native Nero d’Avola with Frappato, and Valle dell’Acate’s Gaetana Jacono crafts one of Sicily’s best. A blend of 60% Nero d’Avola and 40% Frappato, the wine is full, yet soft, with notes of bold dark cherry, raspberry, complex spice and licorice.
