Try Three for Free Wine Tasting this Saturday, April 30th from 2-5 p.m. featuring some delicious new arrival dry roses and the 2014 Montinore Estate Pinot Noir, our new Wine of the Week Selection! Trust us, you don’t want to miss Asheville’s best free wine tasting, and this is it! With temperatures rising and summer just around the corner, it’s time to start drinking copious quantities of dry rose and Table Wine has the best selection in town. We’ll have the new Cotes du Rhone Rose from Domaine Les Aphillanthes (a perennial favorite) along with the 2015 Markowitsch Rose (a new Zweigelt-based, Austrian rose) open for you to try, and as good as those are, the wine we are most excited about is the new Pinot Noir release from Montinore Estate. From a nearly perfect vintage in Oregon’s Willamette Valley, this might be the best Pinot Noir this estate has ever made. Stop by, taste, learn, and save big on all of the tasting wines!

All of the featured tasting wines are on sale the day of the tasting: take 10% off if you mix any 3, 15% off if you mix any 6, or 20% off if you mix any 12.

The Wines

1. 2015 Markowitsch Carnuntum Rose (Carnuntum, Austria) – Although not yet well known, we count Gerhard Markowitsch as one of Austria’s best young producers. His limited production dry rose is based on 70% Zweigelt, 20% Blaufrankisch and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon, and it is just straight-up gorgeous. Fermented in stainless steel, it pours a lovely light pink color, but it is intense in both aroma and flavor. Ripe red fruits, pungent herbs, and spice notes inform the nose and palate of this powerfully flavored, ripe rose from Austria.

2. 2015 Domaine les Aphillanthes Cotes du Rhone Rose (Rhone Valley, France)Robert Parker had this to say about this biodynamically farmed estate: “In 1999, I discovered one of the finest estates in the southern Rhone, the Domaine Les Aphillanthes owned by Daniel Boulle. His oenologist is none other than Philippe Cambie, one of the finest in all of France.” Their dry Rosé is a blend of 60% Cinsault with Grenache, Counoise and Mourvedre rounding things out, and it is always one of our favorite Cotes du Rhone Roses. It is a pretty wine with fresh aromas of strawberries, earth, and spice, good acidity, medium body, loads of fruit, and a dry style.

3. 2014 Montinore Estate Pinot Noir (Willamette Valley, Oregon) – It’s our new Wine of the Week, and it’s a great example of the high quality that was achieve in the Willamette Valley in 2014. Montinore Estate is the largest organic producer of wines in the United States, and their 210 acres of vines are located at the northern end of the Willamette close to the vineyards of Elk Cove Winery. Thus, if you were a fan of the 2012 Elk Cove Pinot Noir, you are going to love this! Richer, deeper colored, and silken in texture, this just explodes out of the glass with sumptuous aromas of ripe cherry, strawberry, dark raspberry, and spice leading into a silky smooth, but completely dry palate.
