Try Three for Free Wine Tasting – Like earthy, spice, savory and mineral flavors in your wines? Don’t miss this free wine tasting on Saturday, February 6th from 2:00 to 5:00!!! For this tasting, we’ll pour you some wines that live a bit on the wild side. Many small family owned and operated French producers feel that expression of “terroir” or sense of place is what makes their wines unique and special and we tend to agree with them. By doing little in the way of manipulating their wines (inoculated yeasts, oak aging, adding coloring agents and a host of other “treatments”), their finished products taste like the place from which they came. Join us to sample a trio of carefully crafted, artisanal wines from various corners of France.
All of the featured tasting wines are on sale the day of the tasting: take 10% off if you mix any 3, 15% off if you mix any 6, or 20% off if you mix any 12.
1. 2014 Domaine de Bernier Chardonnay (Loire Valley, France) – Many taster will not recognize this wine as Chardonnay! From the rocky, mineral infused soils of France’s Muscadet region, this is bone dry, super crisp and flowing with mineral complexity. It sees zero oak and reminds us a little bit of a good entry level Chablis — try it with oysters, shellfish, and other seafood courses.
Tasting Price: $10.79 on mixed 3-packs | $10.19 on mixed 6-packs | $9.59 on mixed cases
2. 2013 Chateau d’Oupia Minervois (Languedoc-Roussillon, France) – Chateau d’Oupia is located in Minervois, in France’s southern, Mediterranean influenced zone. Their Minervois is composed entirely of old vines, some close to 100 years old, and the blend is roughly 60% Carignan, 25% Syrah and 15% Grenache. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks and the resulting wine displays a great balance of ripe berry fruit and earthy, spicy, herbal nuances.
Tasting Price: $12.59 on mixed 3-packs | $11.89 on mixed 6-packs | $11.19 on mixed cases
3. 2013 Bernard Baudry Chinon “Domaine” (Loire Valley, France) – Bernard Baudry is one of the reference point estates of Chinon, one of the key red wine zones of the Loire Valley. This is 100% Cabernet Franc in its fullest glory! With plenty of earthy funk and minerality buttressed by tangy dark fruit, it is the perfect wine for braised meats and stews studded with root vegetables. Yum!
Tasting Price: $19.79 on mixed 3-packs | $18.69 on mixed 6-packs | $17.59 on mixed cases
