Spring and Summer Sparkling Wines- Free on Fridays Wine Tasting

Friday, May 19th from 4-7pm – Stop by Table Wine in South Asheville for a free wine tasting of some awesome spring and summer sparkling wines.  This is your chance to try the 2015 Alla Costiera Prosecco, our new Wine of the Week and the best Prosecco we’ve ever tried!

Who said sparkling wines were just for the holidays and special occasions?  Not us!  Join us as we pour a delicious and affordable trio of bubbles from the Old World.  To start, it’s the always dependable and delicious Broadbent Vinho Verde.  A candidate for the best value porch and patio pounder out there, this year’s version is as good as ever.  Up next, it’s a bone dry, clean and “bready” Cava from Spain’s Perelada Estate.  Possessing great cleansing acidity and an overall zesty personality, this is the perfect bottle to start your weekend.  To finish, it’s the greatest Prosecco we’ve ever tried.  About 500 cases of Alla Costiera’s Prosecco are made each year, and you can certainly taste the small production craftsmanship with every sip.  Get your weekend off to a good start — stop by, taste, learn and save every Friday at Table Wine.  Can’t make it by, but want to place an order?  Just email me at

Coastal Wines

Free on Fridays Wine Tasting – Coastal Wines

Free on Fridays Wine Tasting on Friday, August 12th from 2-7 p.m. featuring some ocean and sea influenced coastal wines!  Get your weekend off to a good start with the best free wine tasting in Asheville.  This week, we’ll pour some great wines from various coastal regions of the world. Vineyards located closer to water tend to benefit from the cooling influence of the ocean and the sea.  Many of these regions can experience dramatic temperature variations between day and night and it is under these conditions that grapes ripen ideally.  We’ll start with a zesty and refreshing Vinho Verde from Portugal followed by refreshing dry rose from Southern France.  We’ll top it all of with a super California Pinot Noir value made with grapes grown along California’s Pacific Coast.  Sound good?  Stop by, taste, learn and save big every Friday at Table Wine!

1. 2015 Las Lilas Vinho Verde (Vinho Verde, Portugal)Vinho Verde is one of the ultimate summer wines, and it is ideal for sipping on the beach or poolside.  Light, low in alcohol, and with just a bit of spritz, this version from Northwestern Portugal is a beauty.  Ripe citrus, apple, and white flower nuances galore!

2. 2014 Domaine Sainte Lucie “MIP” Rose (Provence, France) – The “MIP” in the name means “Made in Provence,” and this is the Mediterranean region where some of the world’s greatest roses are produced.  This one, a blend of Cinsault, Syrah and Grenache offers up an intoxicating bouquet of floral edged strawberry, watermelon, white peach and Provenacal herbs.  Completely dry, but almost creamy in texture, this is a real crowd pleaser!

Mothers Day Wine Tasting

Try Three For Free Wine Tasting – Mother’s Day Sparkling Wines

Try Three for Free Wine Tasting this Saturday, May 7th from 2 to 5 p.m. featuring some classic Mother’s Day sparkling wines!  Join us this Saturday, May 7th for Asheville’s best free wine tasting!  This week, we’ll have a special Mother’s Day themed tasting featuring some of our favorite festive sparkling wines.  These are wines that work well with Mother’s Day brunches and lunches, but you don’t have to be a mom to enjoy them.  Swing by the store with or without mom, taste, learn and save up to 20% off on all of the featured tasting wines.

All of the featured tasting wines are on sale the day of the tasting: take 10% off if you mix any 3, 15% off if you mix any 6, or 20% off if you mix any 12.

The Wines

1. NV Broadbent Vinho Verde (Portugal) – I taste lots of Vinho Verdes every year, but I always come back to this one.  Assembled by and brought to the US by Bartholomew Broadbent, one of the leading authorities on Portuguese wine in the world, it is lightly frothy, beautifully fresh and dry, and simply delicious.  Chill it nicely, twist the cap off, pour in glass, enjoy and repeat!
Tasting Price: $8.99 in mixed 3-packs | $8.49 in mixed six packs | $7.99 in mixed cases

2. NV Bailly-Lapierre Brut Rose (Burgundy, France) – This has quickly become a staff and customer favorite in a very short period of time.  A blend of Pinot Noir and Gamay from a high quality cooperative based in Bailly, the birthplace of the AOC Crémant de Bourgogne, it is deeply colored and bursting with red fruits, spices and mineral notes.  Come taste it and see why folks are loving it!
Tasting Price: $17.99 on mixed 3-packs | $16.99 on mixed 6-packs | $15.99 on mixed cases

3. 2013 Raventos I Blanc De Nit  (Conca del Riu Anoia, Spain) – In my opinion and the opinion of many wine judges, writers, and lovers, Raventos is the top sparkling wine producer in Spain.  This 21st generation family domaine is currently run by the passionate Pepe Raventos, and he has created a new appellation with mucher higher standards of  quality and geographic requirements than that which is covered under the simple Cava appellation.  The Raventos De Nit is their pale colored, but powerful dry rose, and it is made up of old vine Macabeau, Xarel-lo, Parellada, and just a splash of Monastrell.  You don’t have to agree, but to us, this represents one of the best sparkling wine values on the planet.  Tasting equal to or superior to many much higher priced Champagnes from France, this make an ideal aperitif.  Enjoy!
Tasting Price: $25.19 on mixed 3-packs | $23.79 on mixed 6-packs | $22.39 on mixed cases

Table Wine Asheville - "545" Wine Tasting

“545” Wine Tasting – Summertime Spanish Sippers – Friday, July 12th., 2013 – 4:00 to 7:00 pm

Join us this Friday for another installment of  our “545” tastings, whereby you get to try 5 wines for $5, unless you’re a Grape Nut, in which case it’s free.  Spain continues to offer some of the world’s greatest wine values, and we’re going to expose you to a few of them at this Friday’s tasting.  The Spanish have been cultivating the vine for hundreds of years, refining their techniques and methods in the vineyards and the cellars, and today, they are producing some of their best wines ever.

The country produces a wide range of styles of wines, from light and refreshing whites to rich, extracted reds and everything in between. We’ll start the tasting with a bright Verdejo that will make your mouth water before we try a Spanish white that is completely unique and original (read about it below).  Next up will be a three-wine flight of Spanish reds, including a pure and spicy Garnacha followed by two Tempranillos that taste dramatically different.  Should be fun!

The Wines You’ll Get To Try
Prices range from $10 to $17

1. 2012 Garciarevalo Casamaro Blanco (Rueda, Spain) – Every time we taste this wine, we can’t believe it sells for such a great price!  A blend of 90% Verdejo and 10% Viura from vines that go from 15 to 145 years of age, it is bright and tangy, with plenty of melon, lime and citrus zest.

2. 2012 Avinyo Petillant (Penedes, Spain) – Petillant is a vi d’agulla, a charming and slightly frizzante (sparkling) wine from the Penedes region of Spain.  It’s name means “wine with a prickle” and it is intended as a fresh, summertime wine.  This one is super pretty and aromatic with floral, honeysuckle and honeydew aromas and flavors.

3. 2011 Joan D’Anguera “Altaroses” (Montsant, Spain) – We love the wines from the brothers D’Anguera.  This one is made up entirely of Granatxa, the old Catalan name for Garnacha, and it is a perfect summertime red wine.  Light to medium bodied, but no wimpy by any means, it is loaded with fresh red fruits, peppery spice and soft tannins.

4. 2011 Obalo Rioja Roble (Rioja, Spain) – 100% Tempranillo from older vines fermented in stainless steel and then aged in new French oak for 4 months.  This is very modern, user-friendly Rioja with supple notes of blueberry and black raspberry, along with pretty floral nuances.

5. 2011 Entre Suelos Tempranillo (Castilla Y Leon, Spain) – Similar upbringing to #4, with 6 months in French oak, but this is an entirely different species of wine.  Super dark, super smokey/oaky and more structure make this a Cab-lovers wine.  You won’t believe the price!
