Sunny Day Sippers Wine Tasting at Table Wine in Asheville, North Carolina

Sunny Day Sippers - Free on Fridays Wine Tasting

Friday, May 5th from 4-7pm – Get your weekend off to a good start with the best free wine tasting in Asheville. We will pour you a tantalizing trio of sunny day sippers perfect for warm spring days, porch parties and cookouts.

I love warm, sunny spring days, and it’s one of my favorite times of year to enjoy wine. I love sitting on my back porch on beautiful days, sipping on a light white or a refreshing rosé. Equally, I love grilled foods (from steak and salmon to chicken and veggies) and I love enjoying a glass of wine while grilling as much as I do while eating the finished fare. I’m sure you do too, and I invite you to stop by the store on Friday to try some of my favorite sunny day wines. We’ll start with a new wine from Italy’s Veneto region. 100% Pinot Grigio that saw a little bit of aging on the skins, it is light pink in color and brimming with zesty red fruits and citrus……..I call this one the perfect “porch pounder.” After that it’s a rich, yet vibrant White Bordeaux from Clarence Dillon of Haut-Brion fame — trust me, you don’t want to miss one! I had at it last weekend with a grilled vegetable medley and it was a perfect pairing. To finish, we’ll pour you a 93 point rated, certified biodynamic Pinot Noir from Austria. Yes, Austria! And it’s amazingly fresh, lively and buoyant……….perfect for grilled pork chops or chicken. Darn it, I’m hungry now! Stop by, taste, learn and save up to 20% off all of the tasting wines this Friday. Can’t make it by, but want to place an order? Just email me at josh@tablewineasheville.com.

The Wines
All of the featured tasting wines are on sale the day of the tasting: take 10% off if you mix any 3, 15% off if you mix any 6, or 20% off if you mix any 12.

1. 2016 Fornas Pinot Grigio Rosato (Veneto, Italy) – Talk about spring/summer refreshment! Invite friends over, gather on porch, pour a round of this, and watch people’s faces light up. This one is light, yet aromatic and flavorful with notes of watermelon, white peach, and mixed citrus fruits. If hungry, serve this one with spicy marinated, grilled shrimp and/or veggies.

2. 2015 Clarendelle Bordeaux Blanc (Bordeaux, France) – Clarendelle is the value-driven project of Clarence Dillon, owner of Bordeaux’ famed Chateau Haut-Brion. Trust me, this isn’t some slacker side project using his famous name to sell wine………the wines are awesome. The white is a blend of 49% Semillon, 45% Sauvignon Blanc, and 6% Muscadelle fermented entirely in stainless steel. Luscious, rich and rounded on the one hand, it has great balancing acidity at the same time. Really good stuff!

3. 2015 Meinklang Pinot Noir (Burgenland, Austria) – I love this wine! It’s from a small husband and wife team in Eastern Austria. They are certified biodynamic, they work their fannies off, and I’m so pleased that this vintage of their tiny production Pinot Noir garnered a 93 point score with Wine Enthusiast! Medium bodied, super fresh, tangy, and alive with red fruit, earth, and spice notes, I could drink this all night with grilled pork chops, barbecued chicken legs/thighs, or even salmon or tuna.
