Let’s start with Antonio Galloni’s review, as he nailed it. “The 2015 Boutisse is terrific. Deep, dark and pliant, it exudes class from the very first taste. Black cherry, espresso, chocolate and licorice are some of the many notes that flesh out in this powerful, ample Saint-Émilion. The 2015 is extroverted and also very beautiful in every way. Drink now – 2035.”
And Jeb Dunnuck had similar notes. “The 2015 Château Boutisse is a gem of a Saint Emilion and is based on 88% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon, and the rest Cabernet Franc and Carmenère. Aged 12-15 months in new oak, its deep ruby color is followed by terrific Merlot notes of black cherry and currants fruit, hints of chocolate, earth, and tobacco, outstanding purity of fruit, and sweet tannin. It’s going to drink nicely for 8-10 years.” As is usually the case, both of these guys (two of the best tasters in the game) are spot-on.
And don’t forget about the insanely good quality of the 2015 Bordeaux vintage. Jeb Dunnuck said, “2015 produced a bevy of ripe, sexy, opulent wines that share similarities to the 2009s with their sumptuous, already accessible personalities.” And when you consider how much Bordeaux prices have risen over the past 10 years, I think you’ll quickly realize that this is a tremendous value. Even better, the 2015 Chateau Boutisse is drinking well now, yet it offers serious cellar potential. Take my advice — if you drink it now, let it sit in a decanter for a good 2-3 hours. It really opens up nicely.
With Christmas less than a month away, this is one you’re going to want to have on-hand. Drink some this year with your holiday feast and lay a few bottles down to rest for several years. This will age and improve. I guarantee it. Stop by the store and pick some up before it’s gone or before the sale ends on December 8th. Can’t make it by?
