Founded in the winter of 1955 by a group of 25 grape growers, the Camina Cooperative is still going strong 50 years later.  Tempranillo does incredibly well on the arid, elevated plains of La Mancha.  Sunny, dry days ensure full ripening of Tempranillo, Spain’s most beloved varietal, and Vintage 2015 was a great one in the region.  You can immediately detect that in the appearance, aroma, and flavor of the wine.  It pours a lovely cherry red color and exhibits aromas of ripe cherry, raspberry, plum and blackberry leading into a seamless and smooth palate of spicy berry fruit.  It’s not overly complex or complicated, but it is downright delicious.  With soft, fine grained tannin and moderate acidity, this one doesn’t require food or aeration.  Just pop and pour!

At less than $10 per bottle and as low as $7.49, you won’t find a better red wine in Western North Carolina for the money.  Trust us, we try a bunch of wines in consideration for the Case of the Month, and we are extremely picky.  This wine is the result of that selective process!  Stop by and pick some up, email us at josh@tablewineasheville.com to place your order, or stop by on Friday, September 23rd to give it a taste. Cheers and happy drinking and eating in Asheville.
