Best Free Wine Tasting - Asheville, North Carolina

South Asheville's Top Free Wine Tasting

Saturday, June 25 from 2-5pm – Asheville’s Best Free Wine Tasting – The best way to learn about wine is to taste it, and we give you many opportunities to do so. Every Saturday from 2 to 5, we hold our “Try Before You Buy” free tasting. This week, we’re featuring some delicious and affordable wines from Italy. Here is the lineup:

1. 2010 Massone Gavi – 100% Cortese, this is clean and refreshing with nice apple, pear and citrus fruit flavors.
$13.99/bottle$6/glass

2. 2009 Bidoli Pinot Grigio – This is 10 times better than a very well known Pinot Grigio that folks often pay $20+ for. It’s ripe and nicely textured with notes of ripe peach, melon and nectarine.
$11.99/bottle$5/glass

3. 2008 Vajra Rosso Langhe – From all-star Barolo producer Aldo Vajra comes this delicious little blend of Nebbiolo, Barbera and Dolcetto. It is that rock-solid red wine you want to reach for when you get home from work with a Marco’s pizza.
$14.99/bottle$6/glass

4. 2008 Vecchia Torre Salice Salentino – This southern Italian red is a blue collar wine if I ever tasted one. Composed of the native Negroamaro and Malvasia Nera, it is a rustic, earthy, ripely fruited wine perfect for grilled sausage or other traditional Italian fare.
