South Asheville's Best Free Wine Tasting

Saturday, June 18 from 2-5pm – Table Wine offers our customers a free wine tasting every Saturday from 2 to 5. This Saturday, we’re pouring some extreme value wines from the New Zealand and Australia. It’s a great chance to “try before you buy” some delicious wines at great prices. Here’s the lineup:

2009 Ponga Sauvignon Blanc Marlborough, New Zealand – $9.99/bottle………….$4/glass
Do you like grapefruit? If so, you’ll love this wine from New Zealand’s most famous wine production zone. Along with grapefruit, I taste crisp green apple, melon and some subtle mineral notes.

2009 Kilda Chardonnay Southeastern Australia – $8.99/bottle…………..$4/glass
Fresh, unoaked Chardonnay from Australia, this is a Table Wine best seller. The wine is made by the De Bortoli family winery based in Victoria, Australia and it offers up gulpable notes of spiced apple, pear and tropical fruits. A daily house wine for many of our South Asheville customers.

2008 Heartland Stickleback Red South Australia – $13.99/bottle…………..$6/glass
This is an original blend put together by the talented Ben Glaetzer, one of Australia’s top winemakers. 47% Cabernet Sauvignon, 44% Shiraz, 5% Lagrein and 4% Dolcetto aged in used French oak, this is rather full bodied and full flavored with aromas and flavors of plum, chocolate covered cherries and black currant. The palate is full but smooth, with fine grained tannins.

2008 Heartland Cabernet Sauvignon South Australia – $13.99/bottle……………$6/glass
This is sappy, full throttle, intense Cabernet Sauvignon made by the talented Ben Glaetzer. Opaque-purple in color, it offers up scents and flavors of ripe blackberry, cherry-vanilla and exotic spices. You typically pay at least twice the price for a wine of this caliber.
