Free wine tasting at Table Wine in South Asheville, North Carolina.

South Asheville's Best Free Wine Tasting

Every Saturday, Table Wine hosts one of Asheville’s best free wine tastings from 2 to 5 p.m. It is free to the public and the tasting always features four deliciously affordable wines from various wine producing countries and regions. This week, we’re excited to share some great new arrivals to the store and all of the wines retail for $15 or less. Take a look at the lineup for this Saturday, April 28 and join us on our quest to expose Asheville wine lovers to nothing but the good stuff.

1. 3 Brooms Sauvignon Blanc Marlborough, New Zealand – Bright, tangy and refreshing, this is one of the best New Zealand Sauvignon Blancs for the money. It offers up tons of lime, gooseberry and passion fruit notes and just a touch of mineral. Try a bottle with some spicy Thai or any sort of fresh seafood.

2. Nugan Estate Chardonnay “Third Generation” – Alfredo Nugan came to Australia from his native Spain to grow grapes in 1940. Move forward 70 years, and this winery is still family owned and operated and making incredibly affordable and delicious wines from their vineyard holdings in Riverina, Australia. Their Chardonnay sees little or no oak and displays notes of ripe pear, fig and pineapple with a gentle spiciness on the finish.

3. Nugan Estate Shiraz “Third Generation” – This is another fine value from the Nugan family – it is textbook Aussie Shiraz with ripe and luscious notes of black cherry, raspberry, smoky herbs and a hint of violet. Come get a bottle of this, stop by Earth Fare on the way home and buy a big piece of meat, head home and grill that meat, open this bottle and enjoy!

4. Nugan Estate Cabernet Sauvignon “Third Generation” – Have I said that Nugan Estate makes some of the best Australian wine values yet? This is classic, full bodied Cab with a nice base of rich, dark fruit (cassis, black cherry) teaming up with notes of fine tobacco leaf and licorice. This one loves any sort of beef!
