Free on Fridays Wine Tasting this Friday, July 15th from 2-7 p.m. — It’s a Sauvignon Blanc Showdown for this Friday’s free tasting! Stop by and get your weekend off to a good start with one of the best free wine tastings in Asheville. With the dog days of summer upon us, there’s nothing quite like a good glass of super crisp, tart and refreshing Sauvignon Blanc to cool off. Our friend and sales rep Ryan Brazell of Proof Wine and Spirits will join us to pour a trio of Sauvignon Blancs including two from France’s Loire Valley and another from one of our favorite new California producers. This is a great opportunity to sample and learn about the diversity of styles of Sauvignon Blanc out there — trust us, they don’t all taste the same! Stop by, taste, learn and save on all of the featured tasting wines.
On all tasting wines, save 10% off by the bottle, 15% off when you mix six of them, or 20% off when you mix a case or more of them!
1. 2015 Domaine Thomas-Labaille Sancerre “L’Authentique” (Loire Valley, France) – Sancerre is France’s most famous region for Sauvignon Blanc, and this family run domaine owns some of the best and oldest vineyards in Chavignol, one of the key villages in Sancerre. This is prototype Sancerre — crisp, concentrated and minerally, yet restrained and elegant. Yum!
Tasting Price: $23.39/bottle | $22.09 in mixed six packs | $20.79 in mixed cases
2. 2014 Smith Story Wine Cellars Sauvignon Blanc (Sonoma County, California) – This is destined to become one of California’s benchmark Sauvignon Blancs. Antonio Galloni says it “is made in a fresh, reductive style that shows the brighter, stonier side of Sauvignon. Even with all of its freshness, the Sauvignon shows plenty of depth and an attractive element of phenolic weight that adds complexity.” We agree wholeheartedly! Vinous Media 89 points
Tasting Price: $22.49 on mixed 3-packs | $21.24 on mixed 6-packs | $19.99 on mixed cases
3. 2015 Domaine Ricard Touraine Blanc “Le Petiot” (Loire Valley, France) – Mark our words, Vincent Ricard is a legend in the making, and he’s currently making some of the best and most intriguing Sauvignon Blancs in the Touraine AOC. His entry level “Le Petiot” bottling is comprised entirely of Sauvignon Blanc from hand harvested, 40 year old vines. Bright, refreshing, and possessing rich, exotic and exuberant tropical fruit, herb, and mineral notes, this is a terrific value in Sauvignon Blanc.
Tasting Price: $15.29 on mixed 3-packs | $14.44 on mixed 6-packs | $13.59 on mixed cases
