Italian Wine Tasting at Table Wine Asheville

New Italian Arrivals - Friday Wine Down

Join us this Friday, August 15th any time between 4 and 7 p.m. to “wine down” your work week and get your week end off to a good start with the best wine tasting in Asheville! This week, Mike Tiano from The Haw River Wine Man will be pouring some delicious wines from his company’s awesome portfolio of Italian wines. Mike and company founder Jim Stock do an incredible job of finding and direct importing outstanding wines from all parts of Italy, and we’re excited to share some of their newest finds with you this Friday. The cost to taste all five of the wine is just $5/person.

We’ll start with the 2013 Ippolito 1845 Ciro Bianco “Res Dei”, an exotic Southern Italian wine based entirely on the indigenous Greco Bianco grape. With aromas and flavors of flowers, ripe peach, spice and great mineral lift, this is a winner all the way. The 2013 Cordero di Montezemolo Roero Arneis hails from the northwestern Piemonte zone of Italy, and it’s been a staple in the store since we opened. The new vintage is a good as ever, with a great balance of rich and creamy peach offset by bright grapefruit, pear and apple notes.

Moving into the reds, the 2013 Moris Farms Mandriolo comes from the Maremma region along Tuscany’s western coast. A stainless steel fermented blend of Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon, Petit Verdot and Syrah, it is a fresh and charming red wine with notes of cherry, strawberry, and cranberry fruit. The 2012 Vallone di Cecione Chianti Classico is one of the best value Chianti Classicos we’ve ever stocked at the store. It is a “Classic Classico” all the way, with a gorgeous nose of ripe red fruits, blood orange, smoky herb and tobacco notes leading into a medium to full bodied palate of smoky cherry, blackberry and sun baked earth. It’s delicious now, but you could easily age this one for 5 to 7 years. To finish things up, the 2010 Ippolito 1845 Ciro Rosso Superiore “Colli del Mancuso” is an absolute stunner of a red wine that is composed entirely of the native Gaglioppo grape. From the estate’s oldest hillside vineyards, this big, rustic, classic Southern Italian red coats all parts of the palate with flavors of ripe blackberry, dried cherry, leather, exotic spices and vanilla. Team Table Wine is really excited to share these new wines with you, and we hope you can all make it by to taste, learn, and save this Friday.

Tasting wines are 10% off by the bottle, 15% off if you mix six of them, and 20% off if you mix twelve of them!
