Lesser Known Grape Varieties – Free on Fridays Wine Tasting

Friday, October 20th from 4-7pm – Stop by Table Wine this Friday to try some wines made with lesser known grape varieties.  Just because you haven’t heard of it doesn’t mean it’s not delicious — trust me!

There are many different types of wine grapes — close to 3,000 to be exact!  Yet, many wine lovers never venture into lesser known grapes and regions.  That’s about to change!  Join us this Friday to try some wines you’ve probably never heard of nor tried.  Broaden your horizons, taste with an open mind, and you might just find a new favorite wine.  Taste, learn, and save every Friday at Table Wine.

All of the featured tasting wines are being offered at 20% off by the bottle!  All sales must be tendered by the end of business on Friday unless other arrangements are made.  Email us at josh@tablewineasheville.com with questions.

1. 2016 Cederberg Bukettraube (Cederberg, South Africa) – Bukettraube is the grape, and it’s of German origin.  For serious wine geeks out there, it’s a cross of Silvaner and Schiava Grossa, two other obscure varietals.  All of that aside, it is absolutely delicious — just off-dry, floral, exotic, and wonderfully fresh, you’re gonna like it!
Special Tasting Price: $11.99/bottle

2. 2014 De Martino Carmenere Legado (Valle del Limari, Chile) – Carmenere is to Chile what Malbec is to Argentina…..sort of.  Both grapes are originally from Bordeaux, but both have found new homes in South America.  De Martino makes one of Chile’s top Carmeneres, and this one is in fine form.  With loads of ripe berry and plum fruit along with notes of pepper and herbs, this one is plump and rounded, with fine-grained tannins.
Special Tasting Price: $15.99/bottle

3. 2015 Adrien Berloz Mondeuse “Rosa” (Savoie, France) – This is one of my favorite red wines in the store!  The jury is still out, however, as to the “parent grapes” of Mondeuse.  Some evidence points to Syrah while others point to Refosco.  Whatever the case, this wine is brilliant.  Reminiscent of Jean Foillard’s prized Morgon Cote du Py, this one is savory, complex, and texturally satisfying.  For fans of Cru Beaujolais and good Red Burgundy, you need to taste this one!
Special Tasting Price: $27.99/bottle
